Awards and Scholarships Program Summary

The Delaware Valley Engineers Week Committee offers a number of awards to help recognize and promote the engineering profession and education in the Delaware Valley.  Calls for nominations are now available, using the links below.  The Engineer of the Year nominations are due October 12, 2012 and most of the remaining nominations / applications are due November 19, 2012; the math and science teacher and high school student nominations are due December 10, 2012. The award recipients will be recognized at the Awards Luncheon on February 15; some will also be recognized at the Celebration of Engineering Reception the following week.

A brief summary of these awards and contact information is listed below; more information and past recipients can be found by following the links for each award:

Affiliate Awards Recognition Program: Continuing with the effort started last year, all affiliated societies are encouraged to provide information on those projects or individuals who have been honored by the society over the past year (since 2012 Engineers Week) as Project or Engineer / Member of the Year or similar designation. These recipients will be recognized in the Philadelphia Business Journal (PBJ) Engineers Week Supplement and in the printed program and PowerPoint at the DVEW events. The information would also be included in various press releases by DVEW’s public relations consultant. For more information, contact Jocelyn Craighead at (215) 985-5701, x 203 or Jocelyn Craighead.

Engineer of the Year: The Engineer of the Year recognizes an engineer of stature and visibility who manifests the value of an engineering degree; has demonstrated a career of achievement and leadership, exemplifies contributions of the highest professional order, and who will represent the profession well and proudly acclaim its virtues. Nominations for this must come from one of the engineering societies in the Delaware Valley. For more information, contact Ann Tomalavage at (610) 326-0205 or Ann Tomalavage.

Young Engineer of the Year: The Young Engineer of the Year Award annually recognizes an outstanding engineer 35 years of age and under who has demonstrated leadership and made a recognized contribution to the engineering profession, as well as contribution and participation in charitable, civic, and technical affairs. For more information, contact Anthony J. Cirillo at (609) 720-4016 or Anthony J. Cirillo.

Engineering Hall of Fame: The Engineering Hall of Fame Award recognizes an individual, a team of individuals, an engineering project or a company whose engineering achievements have had a long lasting impact on engineering and/or the public. For more information, contact Andrew Hartmann at (215) 789-2074 or Andrew Hartmann.

Outstanding Service Awards: Two Outstanding Service Awards are available; one for outstanding service to the Community and the other for outstanding service to Engineering. The service should be primarily for clients, agencies, or organizations within the area served by Delaware Valley Engineers Week. For more information, contact Andrew Hartmann at (215) 789-2074 or Andrew Hartmann.
