2004 Engineer of the Year
Matt Burns, P.E.
The election of the 2004 Engineer of the Year took place at the PECO headquarter building, Philadelphia on November 6, 2003. Matt Burns, President, Burns Engineering, Inc was unanimously elected the 2004 Delaware Valley Engineer of the Year. Matt, a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, is a graduate of Lehigh University with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering; a graduate of Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and completed the Executive Education, Owner/President Management Program at Harvard University.
His professional association involvements include serving as Past President of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA); President of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE), Philadelphia Chapter; Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); Chairman of the Delaware Valley Engineers' Week Council's Engineering Achievement Awards Committee and Chairman of the SEPTA/ACEC Industry Liaison committee.
Under Matt's leadership the firm has recently been recognized for professional and technical excellence. Burns Engineering, Inc. was named 2002 Service Company of the Year by the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and was named to the 2002/2003 List of Philadelphia's 100 Fastest Growing Companies by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
His community activities include involvement in the Saints Phillip and James Church School expansion; serving as a Volunteer Leader with the Boy Scouts and serving as a Chief for the YMCA's Indian Guides/Princess organization. Matt and his family reside in Exton, Pennsylvania.
