Delaware Valley Young Engineer of the Year

Do you know an outstanding young engineer deserving of recognition? Then YOU are invited to submit nominees for the 2017 Young Engineer of the Year (YEOY) Award.

Eligibility

  • Must be 35 years of age or under prior to January 1, 2017 (birth date after January 1, 1982).
  • Hold a degree in engineering from a college or university having an accredited curriculum.
  • Have demonstrated leadership capabilities and made a recognized contribution to the engineering profession.
  • Have participated in and made contributions to technical, charitable, and civic organizations.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Scholastic [collegiate] achievements
  • Engineering professional society activities
  • Professional papers authored and/or presented, patents
  • Teaching assignments and research and development activities
  • Engineering experience & registration / certification [EIT, PE]
  • Major professional [work-related] accomplishments
  • Additional activities (civic, fraternal, religious, humanitarian)

Nomination Package

  • The nomination form and associated three pages to address Item 5 of the form (in pdf; available here)
  • A 1,000 word (maximum) biography (in MS Word)
  • Additional information (e.g. letters of commendation) that will enhance your candidate’s nomination (maximum of five pages) (in pdf)

All parts of the nomination should be submitted together as one package. Additional information to be used in the Engineers Week publicity efforts will be requested of the selected candidate.

The YEOY is expected to participate in the following key events of Engineers Week.

  • Presentation of the award and brief remarks at the Awards Luncheon on Friday, February 17, 2017
  • Brief Remarks at the Young Engineers Social on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.
  • Brief Remarks at the Celebration of Engineering Reception on Thursday, February 23, 2017.

The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, November 14, 2016

The YEOY Awards Committee will select the awardees from the nominees submitted. The successful nominee and all nominators will be notified.
