2008 Young Engineer of the Year
RAJ ARORA, PE

RAJ ARORA

Rajeev K. Arora, PE, Executive Vice President of Arora Engineers, Inc. (MBE), a multi-disciplinary engineering design and construction management firm, is proud to be selected as the Delaware Valley Engineers Week Council’s 2008 Young Engineer of the Year.

Raj graduated from the University of Maryland in 2000 with a B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering.  He is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer in six states, including New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

As the Executive Vice President of Arora, Raj is responsible for the general administration and engineering management of the firm.  His duties include business development, project oversight, and client relations.  In addition, Raj has served as Project Manager on many technically challenging projects.  He is currently directing two high profile projects for the MTA/Metro-North Railroad at the historic Grand Central Terminal in New York City.

Raj also directs the Arora’s Fire Protection Services Division, relying on his cultivated expertise in fire alarm and detection systems, mass notification, electronic security, water based fire sprinklers, clean agent suppression, and special hazards suppression systems.  Before joining the firm, Raj worked for ADT Security Services, a division of Tyco Fire and Security.  He has published several articles on Fire Protection and Life Safety in major industry publications, including PE Reporter.

Raj serves as a mentor to current engineering students and recent graduates in his field of specialty.  In fact, he annually conducts a well-attended Fire Alarm Design Seminar at his alma mater.  For five consecutive years, he was involved in the planning of PSPE’s Delco Chapter’s Golf Outing.  This event was successful in raising money for scholarships that benefited engineering students throughout the local region.  Raj has also volunteered with PSPE’s MATHCOUNTS program.  He has organized several charity events, including those for Hurricane Katrina Victims and the USO at Philadelphia International Airport.
